Vision Board
Where do you want to go? How do you want to get there?
Don’t underestimate the power of a vision board. It’s one thing to know what you want but the goal is to get what you want. Creating a vision board is a great way to remind yourself of what your goals are and remove things that aren’t on that track. Here are some tips that could help you be more organized and structured in creating your board: Create a brain dump, declutter, action plan, develop a reward system, and as a bonus track your wins.
In order to be able to move forward in some of these tasks it’s important to ask yourself important questions such as “Does this help me get to my goals?”, “Am I attached to this is so why?, ” Whether it a thing or a habit, is it serving you like you want it to? Let this be where you make a choice and trust yourself with yourself for yourself.
Put things in an order that allows you to multitask.
It is very important to establish a strong foundation. This is the time to really sit down with yourself and not just account for your wants (i.e. shoes) and needs (bills) but also your goals (aspirations) and dreams(fulfillment). This is an order that I like to follow and what to consider.
Brain dump- First get everything on paper. Just like the name suggests dump everything out on paper. By doing this it takes some of the stress off of your brain allowing it to not start over and think with a clean slate.
Declutter- After doing this declutter and organize your thoughts. You’ll be surprised by the things that we allow to clutter our thoughts preventing us from focusing on what really needs and deserves our attention. One of my favorite ways to do is this by putting things in categories or piles. My big three are household, kids, and hobbies. Most likely anything that I can think of would fall within these areas and maybe even several and that’s ok at times even better.
Action plan- Now that we’re down to the meat and potatoes of what we need let’s put it all together. This is where we’ll look over our categories and start seeing patterns and steps. Asking ourselves questions like where can I get a 2 for 1 on some of these moves? Or now that I see my important factors what do I need to do first to get the ball rolling? This is where are create our steps and with a little more dedication adding eta’s and deadline times.
Reward system- Why do the work and not expect a reward? It could be as big or as small as you might like but the goal is for it to be in accordance with the work to encourage you to do more. So be sure to space it out cheating yourself is just that cheating yourself and we’re not here for that.
Bonus: Track your wins. Sometimes we forget how much we really did and start feeling discouraged. Tangibly seeing your progress sometimes can make a huge difference in staying motivated, encouraged, or just marking your current status.
Don’t overthink it!!! We’re most likely to re-do and sustain doing things that we enjoy. Take joy in putting your plan together. As I like to say you can’t want the results and not want the work so make it your own because it is. Put it where you can see it often and in a way that promotes growth.
REMEMBER ONE STEP GETS YOU GOING, MANY STEPS GET YOU THERE
